Image Toolkit
The five things people actually do to a photo before sending it — resize, compress, convert, hit a size limit, and take the location out — done on this device.
- a photo that reports 4 MB is resized and compressed to under 500 KB, with the quality search shown
- GPS and the other identifying metadata are removed, and the app says what it removed
- JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP in; JPEG, PNG or WebP out
- no upload, no account, no network request — the file never leaves the machine
A file that is not an image is refused with the type it reported. A HEIC is named as something a browser cannot draw, rather than failing silently. If the export cannot be written, the app says so and keeps the image in memory.
