All four steps happen inside your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere, and you can repeat them offline.
Set up your master
Add your company profile, bank details, GSTIN and terms once. Upload your logo, signature and payment QR, and pre-load frequent items with rates, HSN codes and tax brackets.
Create the invoice
Pick a document type and pull items from your master list. CGST, SGST and totals calculate live as you type — no spreadsheet, no manual maths.
Save to history
Store the invoice in your local database and revisit it any time. Every past document stays available in the History tab, on your device.
Preview, print, export
Check the A4 preview, then print it or download it as a Word file. Take a JSON backup regularly so a cleared cache never costs you data.

- Open the live app in any modern browser.
- Go to Master & Settings and fill in your company details.
- Head to New Invoice and raise your first bill.

FAQ
Questions people ask before their first invoice.
Where is my data stored?
Everything lives in your browser's native IndexedDB on the device you are using. Nothing is uploaded to a server, and SmartBill has no backend at all. That also means your data does not automatically follow you to another device or browser.
Do I need to create an account or sign up?
No. There is no signup, no login and no email required. Open the page and start billing immediately.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Once the page has loaded, the app runs fully offline because all logic and data are local. The only thing an internet connection is needed for is the very first load of the page and its CDN libraries.
Is it compliant for Indian GST invoices?
SmartBill provides the fields Indian businesses need — HSN/SAC codes, CGST and SGST split, state codes and reverse-charge handling — and produces a clean A4 tax-invoice layout. You should still confirm the exact format your business requires with your accountant, as SmartBill is a tool, not tax advice.
What happens if I clear my browser data?
Clearing your browser cache or using aggressive system cleaners will permanently delete your saved invoices and master settings. Use the built-in Download Backup (.json) button regularly and keep a copy of that file somewhere safe.
Can I export an invoice to edit elsewhere?
Yes. From the Preview & Export tab you can print the A4 document directly, export it to Microsoft Word (.doc), or take a full JSON backup of your database.

The project is released under a custom dual license — free for individual and non-commercial use, with a paid license required for commercial or business use. See the LICENSE file in the repository for the exact terms.
