Licence & terms of use
What you may do with Open Materia Medica — the text, the design and the code — in plain words.
In short
You may read it, print it for personal or clinical reference, and quote it briefly with credit. You may not republish or redistribute it, sell it, rebrand it, or strip its watermarks. For anything beyond that, ask first.
1What is public domain here
The classical materia medica works on which these portraits rest — Boericke's Pocket Manual, Clarke's Dictionary, Kent's Lectures, Allen's Keynotes, Nash's Leaders, Farrington's Clinical Materia Medica, and Hahnemann's writings — are in the public domain in their original editions. The modern scientific sources listed on the References page belong to their own publishers; they are cited here, not reproduced.
2What is protected here
The following are the copyright of the compiler and are all rights reserved:
- the selection, compilation and arrangement of the library;
- the plain-language expression of every remedy portrait, index, guide and diagram;
- the design, layout, diagrams, icons and code (HTML, CSS and JavaScript).
© 2026 Dr. Sohil Momin, BHMS. All rights reserved.
This notice covers only the compiler's own original work. It does not, and cannot, extend to the public-domain classical sources themselves, which remain free for anyone to use, or to the modern scientific sources, which belong to their own publishers.
3You may
- read, browse and search the library;
- print or save pages for personal study and clinical reference;
- quote short passages with attribution — for example, "Open Materia Medica, Dr. Sohil Momin";
- link to the site, and share the link with colleagues and students.
4You may not
- republish or redistribute the whole, or substantial parts of it, in any form;
- sell it, or bundle it into a paid product or course without permission;
- rebrand it, or remove the compiler's name, the copyright notices or the watermarks;
- present it, in whole or in part, as your own work;
- use it to train a commercial model or dataset without written permission.
5No warranty
This library is a study and reference aid. It is not medical advice, and no warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for any purpose is given. Severe, sudden or worsening symptoms need a qualified clinician. You use the library at your own judgement and risk.
6Permission and contact
For any use beyond the terms above — including translation, republication, teaching packs or app distribution — please ask first. The compiler can be reached through the Compiled by page.
This page sets out the terms in plain words. It is not a substitute for legal advice; for a formal licence or a commercial agreement, consult a qualified lawyer.
